AGENCY CERTIFICATIONS

If agency certifications are required, the product will be designed to meet the requirements of certification.

The Company has experience in certifications from:

• UL - Underwriters Lab
• CSA - Canadian Standards Association
• FM - Factory Mutual (intrinsic safety)
• CE - European electromagnetic compatibility

Generally, a finished product must be submitted for testing. A deposit, in the $3000 to $5000 range, is required with the model. Work is done by the testing entity until testing is finished or the deposited funds are depleted. An additional deposit may be required. If testing reveals design problems, corrections must be made and a new model may be submitted. Depending on work load, approvals may require 3 to 12 months.

After certification is completed, the Company must maintain QA and engineering records to insure compliance with the certification requirements. Surprise visits are made to the Company and records viewed for compliance.

The CE certification requires technical files to be maintained in one of the European Union countries.

The individual certifications are a complex subject and necessitates that the OEM become familiar with the requirements of any needed certifications.
