READ ME FIRST - Business Relationship

This web page allows an Original Equipment Manufacturer to specify a custom product based on exact needs in lieu of having to compromise to a standard product that does not exactly fit their requirements. A custom product will usually cost less than a standard manufactured product because it can be designed to do only and exactly what is required.

The text associated with the topics in the List Boxes defines the subjects shown and gives performance and cost comparisons between different methods of achieving the desired results.

After reading and studying a subject of interest, click on the Questionnaires button at the bottom of the page.  A new window will open displaying a print ready set of forms that ask questions about the required product.  To print the forms click the print button on your browser.  When finished, click the close button at the bottom of the form to close the browser window and return to the OEM Capabilities window.

The cost of a custom product from Wilkerson Instrument Co. can be surprisingly low because after more than 19 years of product development, the Company has many standard circuits designed that can be used in custom products. The only original work, in many cases, is the packaging of the product for best cost, performance, and mounting efficiency.

BASIC BUSINESS PLAN

The OEM begins the process by completing the questionnaires produced by this software.

Wilkerson Instrument Company, Inc. will help develop the final specifications for the product.

No costs are incurred up to this point, but costs will be incurred for actions after this point.

A prototype will be built that meets specifications. After a successful prototype, a quantity of engineering test units will be built for environmental and statistical tolerance testing.

Any corrections required will be made and, depending on the corrections, the design will be finalized or the test units duplicated again.

When the Company is satisfied the design is satisfactory, a sample production run will be made for the OEM to test.

After satisfactory completion of all testing, the Company will receive a purchase order for a previously specified quantity, with firm monthly releases against the order.

The sales price, for 12 months, to the OEM will be the quoted price plus 1/12 of the total costs to amortize design costs over 12 months.

After the 12-month period, the price will be the quoted price.

This plan, as described, is not the full contractual requirements required by the Company to engage in the development of a custom product for OEM use. It is a general description of the method that will be used.
